KEEP TRACK
 
Keeping track of what you actually do, eat and drink, can help you identify what you would like to change to be healthier and then it helps you make changes . When we write down actual events, we have a much better idea about what is really happening and is not just a guess. We can more easily identify a trigger for an unwanted symptom, understand exactly how many calories we consume and so on. It can also be helpful to document our thoughts and feelings when we are feeling sad, anxious or are going through a stressful period in our life. Journalling can be a powerful tool to help you analyse yourself to help you move forward. It can also help clarify your thoughts if you want to talk to other people about these things.
Studies have shown that people who are trying to lose weight are more successful when they keep a diary compared to those who do not keep a diary (Victor Stevens (2008) in the American Journal of Preventive Medicine). Thus, keeping track of what, when and how much you eat, how much you walk and exercise, how much water your drink and how many hours you sleep can have a big impact on your health.
